Dear Altadore Families,

This week we had our final School Council meeting of the school year and we were so happy to see the large turnout to our first in-person meeting of the year. During that meeting, many School Council executives and members were thanked for their service as they are stepping down from their roles. We want to publicly thank these parents for their hard work over the years:

  • Margot Smart - Communications Chair. She is the person behind these Weekly Updates each week: she ensures the messaging is clear and timely. Thank you, Margot, for keeping us both so organized, and for always anticipating what needs to be shared next!
  • Katie Morgan - Fundraising Chair. Katie organized the Direct Donation campaign over the past few years, and has played an instrumental part in raising tens of thousands of dollars for our school. Thank you, Katie, for your hard work in ensuring the messaging went out to parents and the success of each campaign was widely celebrated.
  • Liz Hoogkamer - Treasurer. Liz has worked diligently during her two year term to ensure School Council funds are being spent out during the year in which they are raised, and that all of the funds raised serve the greatest need. Thank you, Liz, for your diligence and organization in this critical area of finance.
  • Kerry Parker-Smith - Secretary. Kerry takes careful notes at each of our meetings and is diligent about sharing those minutes with us in a timely fashion so they can be shared on our school website. Thank you, Kerry, for organizing all of the discussions into a reader-friendly and succinct format.
  • Maria deRegt - Vice-Chair. Maria organizes the Altadore gear, the food trucks for big events, and offers to help in a variety of other areas. Thank you, Maria, for your commitment to enhancing school culture at Altadore.
  • Meghan Reyes - Casino Chair - Meghan has spent a lot of time coordinating, scheduling, and re-scheduling casinos during pandemic times - no easy feat! Thank you, Meghan, for your tireless work getting volunteers for those long shifts, filling out endless forms, and communicating casino information to families.
  • Kim Trevino - Social Media. Kim ensures our families are updated on key school events through the Altadore School parent pages. Thank you, Kim, for ensuring the messaging to parents is consistent and clear, especially during these COVID times when things were constantly changing.
  • Diana Audino - Volunteer Coordinator. From teacher appreciation treat day sign ups, to school-wide event sign ups, Diana is the master of Sign up Genius and keeping people organized. Thank you, Diana, for your organized and clear approach to ensuring every event has the necessary volunteers.
  • Lindsay Holden - FunFit Coordinator. From sports day to gaga ball, and lacrosse to adventure running, Lindsay has organized many wonderful events for our school. Thank you, Lindsay, for always thinking outside the box and spending countless hours researching and reaching out to organizations. Your ideas bring a lot of joy to the students!
  • Jody Oikawa - Auditor. This may not be the most glamorous role, but it is incredibly important! Thank you, Jody, for ensuring our books are accurate and that the money is all accounted for.

All of our exiting School Council members have played a huge role in making Altadore the special school that it is. Thank you to everyone for your time and dedication over the years. We also would like to thank those people who will be stepping into these roles next year and look forward to working with each of you.
