School Council keyboard_arrow_down

One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory and decision-making authority defined within the Education Act and the School Councils Regulation. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

School Council Bulletin Board

Our School Council bulletin board is located in the hallway across from the office. It contains information about the Altadore School Council, its activities, programs, and financial reporting as well as general parent information. It contains information of a general nature on a variety of topics. If you are interested in posting something to this board, please submit it to the office for approval and display.

About Our School Council

The Altadore School Council is a strong and active parent body that is integral to our school’s operation and success. School Council works collaboratively with the school administration and staff to significantly enhance learning opportunities for students. It is often through School Council that parents are first asked for feedback about new things that are being considered. It also provides an opportunity for parents to learn more about the school, support initiatives and to provide input. Please see the Altadore Elementary School Parent Association and School Council Handbook for more information.

School Council meets the second Wednesday of each month from 6:30 – 8:00 PM. Childcare is provided. The minutes of the School Council meetings are available on the parent bulletin board outside of the main office.
