Oki Hello Altadore Parents
We had a wonderful first week at Altadore School! Please note that this week’s news message is arriving early due to network unavailability this weekend.
Thank you to everyone who attended the Annual Welcome Back Picnic and Meet the Teacher Night. The sun was shining, and the smoke dissipated, making for a beautiful evening filled with laughter, fun, and community. If you were unable to attend, please contact your child’s classroom teacher to connect.
Each week, you will receive a message from teachers sharing the exciting learning happening in classrooms and important upcoming information about field trips.
Don’t forget to complete your volunteer forms—there are many opportunities to help in the classroom! All volunteers need CBE clearance to help out. These are good for 5 years. If you would like to complete this process, please see Ms. Tori in the office.
Our first School Council meeting will take place this Wednesday, September 10, at 6:30 p.m. You may attend in person or online and there will be childcare available.

School Council Meeting (Sept 10, 6:30 pm)
You’re invited to attend our first school council meeting of the 2025-2026 school year! All parents and guardians of Altadore students are welcome to join us on Wednesday, September 10, at 6:30 p.m. Those unable to attend in person can join online (a Teams Meeting invite will be shared the day of).
On-site childcare is available for all school-aged children! We look forward to having you attend!
School Council Volunteer Opportunities
Welcome back to all the parents/guardians at Altadore School - we are looking forward to another wonderful year! Thank you to all of the individuals who have already signed up to volunteer on School Council this year. Many roles are already in full swing however, we are still looking for a few more dedicated volunteers to join our team!
For anyone who has been thinking about getting more involved in the school, it’s not too late! Please reach out to altadoreparentcouncil@gmail.com if you are interested.
The following volunteer opportunities are still available:
Garden Committee Chair
Role Description: Collaborate and help lead garden maintenance, programming, and special events.
Time commitment: 8-10 hr/month March-September
HOOT Committee Volunteer Roles
The HOOT is back in Fall 2025! This is our wildly fun bi-annual parent social night and FUNdraiser. We are seeking a few more enthusiastic, friendly, and dependable volunteers to help make this year’s HOOT a memorable event!
We are currently recruiting the following HOOT Committee volunteer roles:
- Silent Auction, Raffle & Sponsorship Co-Coordinator
- Volunteer Coordinator
- Communications Coordinator
No experience is necessary and support will be provided! Email altadoreparentcouncil@gmail.com if interested.
Garden Committee
Call for Boxes - The Garden Committee is in need of two boxes per class for the garden harvest. If you have a larger sized box (or two) that you are willing to part with please drop them off at the front office.
Volunteer Needed - The Garden Committee is also in search of a volunteer with a truck who can take the harvest to the Food Bank. They are in search of someone to do deliveries on September 8, 11th and 12th. Delivery would need to be picked up after school on those dates and taken to the Food Bank. Anyone interested can please reach out to Christiana Mueller via emailor on WhatsApp.
Altadore Gear - Altadore School collaborates with Summarized Design to offer Altadore Gear in various sizes for purchase throughout the year. This is a fun initiative that many of our families enjoy. Please note that this is not a fundraiser, and Altadore School does not benefit financially from the purchase of Altadore gear. You can order online at www.myschoolzone.ca/altadore, and your purchase will arrive at the school in approximately one week.
Picture Day (Sept 10)
Picture Day is scheduled for Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

Lunch/Snack
- Altadore School will not be providing single-serve utensils this year. Please ensure your child brings their own utensils in their lunch.
- We are a nut-aware school due to students with severe allergies. Please be mindful of this when packing your child’s lunch to help keep everyone safe.
- We encourage students to take home unfinished food. We do not throw food away at Altadore School and promote a litterless lunch to support our city’s green initiatives.
