Oki Hello Altadore Families

Happy Passover to all of our families who are celebrating—wishing you a joyful and meaningful holiday.

What a beautiful week it’s been! The sunshine has brought lots of energy to our school, and big learning continues as we move into our spring term. We have many exciting events coming up, so be sure to keep checking this newsletter so you don’t miss a thing! (We will also be needing lots of parent volunteers especially in May with swimming, stream of dreams, fun lunch and gardening lessons).

This past Friday, our Grade 6 Orff the Wall performers put on a fantastic school presentation. They’re now getting ready—excited and a little nervous—for their big performance at the Jack Singer on Monday night. We’re so proud of them and know they’ll represent our school wonderfully.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to announce that our Grade 4–6 Spring Concert is scheduled for 7:00 PM on May 22, 2025. Stay tuned for more details coming soon.

Also worth celebrating: our Grade 5 students have been hard at work! They’ve created a thoughtful land acknowledgement and developed an informative presentation on technology care and safety. They shared this with school council earlier this week and will soon present it to the rest of the school as part of our digital citizenship plan.

Warm Regards,

Our guest speaker, Dr. Cheryl MacLeod from The Family Psychology Place, will share valuable information and tips on how to navigate the digital world while prioritizing your child's well-being!

Reserve a seat HERE by April 21.

Grade 5 & 6 Eco Club

Students in the grade 5 and 6 eco-club will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday lunch to continue planning our Earth Day events for April 22. Students have been busy creating a skit and a song to present to the school as part of our Earth Day events (see below).

Earth Day (April 22)

Earth Day is coming up on April 22, a day recognized in many countries to inspire care and action for our environment. We’ll be holding a school-wide assembly that afternoon, followed by a community walk to reflect in gratitude on the natural world around us. Please wear blue and green that day to bring the Earth Day spirit to our little parade through the neighbourhood.

Families may want to take part in the City Nature Challenge, happening April 25–28, 2025. Explore your backyard, neighborhood, or local parks and keep an eye out for wild organisms like plants, fungi, insects, birds, and mammals. Take photos and upload them to iNaturalist.ca to help showcase and support Calgary’s incredible biodiversity.

Let’s celebrate and protect the planet together!

Fun Lunch (May 6)

Jelly Modern Doughnuts is coming May 6! Be sure to order by May 1 to ensure your child will receive a fun lunch!
