Oki Altadore Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to begin another year of learning at Altadore School! I hope your summer was filled with warm weather, laughter, and many opportunities to create lasting family memories.
School begins with a full week on Monday, August 31, at 8:26 a.m. Families should have received a welcome email from their child’s teacher on Friday morning with information about where to meet their teacher. If you did not receive this email, please enter through the west blue doors. Ms. Tori will be happy to direct you to the appropriate location.
Our teachers and staff gathered this week to prepare their classrooms and welcome students back. Three additional classrooms have been created this year by installing room dividers in the double classroom, Room 7, for Grade 2 and in the Learning Commons for a Grade 4 class. We recognize that this arrangement is far from ideal; however, we are making every effort to support excellence in learning and maintain smaller class sizes within our limited school space.
We are also pleased to welcome Danica Burrows as our newly appointed Assistant Principal. Ms. Burrows’ first official day will be Monday, September 21. Before then, she will join staff during our weekly meetings on September 4 and 18. She will also spend the day at Altadore School on Thursday, September 10, and attend our Welcome Back Picnic and Meet the Teacher event that evening.
Several important dates are quickly approaching as we begin the school year:
- School Council Meeting: Wednesday, September 9, from 6:30–8:00 p.m. Families are welcome to attend in person or online.
- Picture Day: Wednesday, September 9.
- Welcome Back Picnic and Meet the Teacher: Thursday, September 10, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. events.

2026-2027 Events and Activities Update
- Outdoor School: Our three-day, two-night Outdoor School experience will take place May 10–12, 2027. Thank you to Ms. Hutton and Ms. Bigelow for their commitment to providing this valuable opportunity for students.
- Winter and Spring Concerts: A teacher committee is developing a concert format that will continue to include an afternoon performance for grandparents and an evening performance for families. The proposed new format will be shared for discussion at the October Parent Council meeting. Thank you to Ms. Brown-Wolfe for her continued commitment to our music program and to creating opportunities for all family members to attend.
- Learning Night: Teachers have begun planning an evening dedicated to celebrating student learning. More information about the date and learning theme will be shared soon.
Picture Day
Picture Day is Wednesday, September 9. The date is fast approaching, please ensure you put this date on your calendar.

🧺 Welcome Back Picnic (September 10)
Join us for our Back-to-School Picnic on Thursday, September 10 from 5-7pm. Classes will be open for parents and students. We ask that students remain with parents in the school and that we are sensitive to timing to allow everyone an opportunity to visit the classroom and meet their teacher. Come meet the teachers and connect with other families.
Also, we’re looking for volunteers to help with cleanup. Sign up to help.
💲One & Done Fundraiser
No bake sales. No apple selling. No “a-thons”. Here at Altadore School, families are invited to make one donation to The Altadore School Parents Association at the beginning of the school year (and be done with it). A suggested contribution of
$200 per child helps fund programs, resources and opportunities for all grades.
🎰 School Casino (December 17–18, 2026)
Save the dates! Our school casino fundraiser will take place Thursday, December 17 and Friday, December 18. Volunteer opportunities and more details will be shared soon.
