Oki, Hello, Altadore Families

It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the last week of school before the New Year! It has been a fantastic week—and an incredible fall—full of learning, growth, and connection. We’re excited to finish the year on a high note with Spirit Week, packed with fun activities for everyone to enjoy:

  • Monday: Festive Hat and Hair Day
  • Tuesday: Red and Green Day
  • Wednesday: Festive Sweater/Shirt Day
  • Thursday: Tropical Vacation Day
  • Friday: PJ Day (yes, you can bring a small stuffy!) & a special sing-along led by our amazing Grade 4-6 students.

A quick reminder that winter break begins on December 21, and students will return to school on January 6. This is our final update before the break—and of the year!—with our next update scheduled for January 12.

We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and partnership throughout the fall. Wishing you and your families a safe, joyful, and relaxing holiday season. We look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year, ready for more learning and adventures!

Happy Holidays

Kindergarten Registration 2025-26

Kindergarten registration for the 2025-26 school year will begin on Monday January 13, 2025. Children can be registered for kindergarten if they turn five years old on or before Dec. 31 of the school year they will be in kindergarten. For example, when registering for the 2025-26 school year, the child must turn five on or before Dec. 31, 2025.

You can find information on kindergarten registration on the public CBE website.

Holiday Children’s Book Drive

School Council is collecting new and gently-used books (appropriate for kids in elementary school) to be gifted to children who could use a little extra this holiday season. If you have any gently-used books at home that you no longer need, or if you are able to pick up a new book during your holiday shopping, please drop them off in the BOOK DRIVE holiday box in the office. You can also send donated books to school with your child. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

K-3 Winter Concert | December 18

Our K-3 students are getting ready to wow you at the Winter Concert on December 18, with performances held in both the afternoon and the evening. Here are the details to help you plan:

Evening Performances

  • We can only accommodate 2 spectators per family due to space limitations.
    • Kindergarten and Grade 1 may be dropped off starting at 5 PM with a 5:30 PM show time.
    • Grade 2 & 3 students may be dropped off starting at 6:30 PM with a 7 PM show time.
  • Students cannot be dropped off for the concert while you leave; a parent/caregiver must attend the performance.
  • If you have children in both performances, you’ll need to pick them up after the first show and return for the second performance.

Afternoon Performance (starting at 1:45 PM):

  • For families wishing to bring more than two people or who cannot attend the evening performance, we recommend attending the afternoon performance, where both groups will perform back-to-back.
  • All students will attend the afternoon performance, so please keep them at home if at all possible for the evening concert to allow more room in the audience.
  • Morning Kindergarten students are welcome to attend the 1:45 PM performance with a caregiver.

Students are invited to wear their “fancy clothes” or whatever they are comfortable in for the concert.

And don’t forget! Grades 4-6 will have their turn to shine in a Spring Concert on May 7, 2025

We can’t wait to see you there and celebrate the talents of our amazing students!

Inn from the Cold Donations

Donation Drive Inn from the Cold

Our Grade 3 active citizens are hoping everyone can bring some new and unwrapped items for Calgarians in need and Inn from the Cold. They can be put in the donation box in each classroom or you can bring items to the Winter Concert! For more information about this organization please see their website: https://innfromthecold.org/

We still need a few more large boxes to collect all these items. Boxes are needed as soon as possible so please reach out here if you have any to donate or with any questions. Thanks in advance to all those who are able to help!

Beautiful Bouquets

The students of Altadore were busy creating ‘Get Well Soon’ bouquets for Principal Iikiinayookaa this week. Thank you to each grade for creating such colorful arrangements!
