Oki, Hello, Altadore Families,

Last week was an exciting one for our students! Grades 4-6 had an incredible time skiing and snowboarding, soaking up the fresh air while learning new skills and showing perseverance on the slopes. Grade 5 also enjoyed an enriching experience at the Confluence, diving into hands-on learning and exploration that encouraged curiosity. Meanwhile, Grades K-3 stayed active closer to home, lacing up their skates for inline skating sessions that were full of energy, smiles, and the joy of mastering new skills. Looking ahead, Grade 6 kicks the week off with the long awaited and rescheduled Astrodome presentation, Grade 1 students are visiting Fort Calgary and Grade 3 students are off to the zoo next week for more exciting adventures! A huge thank you to all the volunteers and our School Council for making these trips and activities possible. Your support helps create incredible learning opportunities and unforgettable memories for our students.

Fun Lunch (Dec. 10 & Jan. 14)

December's Fun Lunch is Panago Pizza on Tuesday, December 10. Please note that grade 1 students will be on a field trip that day, so these students will need to bring a packed lunch on this day. If ordered, it will be given upon return to the school. Please supplement lunches as needed! Email with any questions or concerns. December 10 volunteers sign up. January's Fun Lunch is Subway on January 14. Place your order. The order deadline is January 9 for Subway. Be sure to place your order before then! January 14 volunteers can sign up.

Holiday Children’s Book Drive

School Council is collecting new and gently-used books (appropriate for kids in elementary school) to be gifted to children who could use a little extra this holiday season. If you have any gently-used books at home that you no longer need, or if you are able to pick up a new book during your holiday shopping, please drop them off in the BOOK DRIVE holiday box in the office. You can also send donated books to school with your child. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Treats for Teachers (Dec. 16)

For all you bakers out there, this one’s for you - although store bought is just as delicious and appreciated! With winter break fast approaching we would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful team of educators and administrators at our school. We are still looking for some volunteers to bring in tasty treats for the school team to enjoy on Dec. 16.

Please sign up to share some of your favourite treats* with our amazing staff!

*If you have a tasty gluten free option, please feel free to bring as we have a few individuals with gluten sensitivities.

Treat drop off will be at 8:30 am on Dec. 16. Thanks to all of those who have already signed up to contribute something delicious for our amazing school team.

Winter Concert (Dec. 18)

Our K-3 students are practicing hard for our winter concert and starting to get a little excited. There will be performances held both in the afternoon and the evening on December 18. For the evening performances we are only able to accommodate 2 spectators per family. If you wish to have more people come, we ask that you come to the afternoon performance, which will start at 1:45 pm (we will run both groups back to back). It is important to note that all students will be attending the afternoon performance so that they do not need to come to the evening concert to watch their siblings perform. Morning Kindergarten students are welcome to attend the 1:45 performance with their caregiver. Students are invited to dress up in their “fancy clothes” (their words) for the concert.

*A reminder that Grades 4-6 will take part in a Spring Concert on May 7, 2025.

Large Boxes Needed

If you have any large boxes laying around, please consider donating them to the school for a fundraiser being done by our Grade 3 students. We are in need of a large box in each classroom to collect donations for “Inn from the Cold”. More details on this exciting action project to come from our Grade 3 students next week! Boxes are needed as soon as possible so please reach out if you have any to donate or with any questions. Thanks in advance to all those who are able to help!
