Dear Altadore Families,

Teachers have been hard at work writing and trying to figure out how to input report card marks in the correct locations so that you can view them online on January 30.

You will need to sign in to MyCBE to view your child’s report card. You will only be able to view report cards for 30 days so if you want to print them off, please do so during the month of February.

The comments for report cards look a little different this year. The CBE has asked us to write in bullet form under the categories of Areas of Strength and Next Steps.

As always, our goal is to keep families informed about their child’s learning. If you have any questions about the report card, or anything else, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher. We all want to work together as a team to support learning for everyone, and consistent clear communication is a part of that.

Winter Walk to School

Winter Walk to School Day encourages our students to be active outdoors. Please join us on Thursday by walking to school! The forecast looks great. Even if you drive your child, you might like to walk the last block or two! You might want to even extend this challenge by walking to work (or at least parking further away).

We’re Looking for You!

Do you have experience in architecture, building design or heating and cooling systems? The School Council is interested in looking into options to help reduce the spring/fall heat in the school, and we need your help!

• If you are interested in helping to identify options, please email Julia HERE!
• School Council is looking for a new Treasurer for the 2024/2025 School Year! This is a great way to get involved with the School and make an impact on our student's school experience! Getting involved now will allow ample time to learn and transition the role. If you have questions or are interested, email Julia HERE!

School Council has created a NEW instagram account. Follow us!

Due to recent changes with instagram, the old Altadore parents group page is being discontinued. Don’t worry though, we have a new page, so be sure to follow and get timely updates on everything from PD days, to report cards, to field trips changes. Find us on instagram and be sure to follow!

Fun Lunch                                                                       

Be sure to place your order for our Subway fun lunch on March 20 HERE! Please note that orders must be placed before Friday March 15, 2024.

There are still spots to help sort and hand out lunches! Sign up to volunteer HERE!

Reading Club - Mondays from 8:00-8:30                                                                       

Ms. Christopher will be hosting a reading club for any interested students K-6 on Monday mornings before school. Students will be able to read on their own, with partners or in small groups, look for new books, talk with other students about books they enjoy, write book reviews, or even write their own books..

If your child is interested, you are welcome to drop them off at the front door between 8:00 and 8:15 on Monday mornings (Unless it is a Blue Day and all students are coming in early).

Altadore Gear 

We know that kids are always growing out of things, so if you need more Altadore Gear you can order online HERE!

Altadore school works with Summarized Design to provide Altadore Gear for purchase in all sizes all year long. This is a fun initiative that many of our families enjoy. Please note that this is not a fundraiser, and Altadore School does not benefit financially from the purchase of Altadore gear.

T-Shirt and hoodie colours are changed periodically, and right now there are several versions of multicoloured logos! Please pop into the office to check out colours and sizes if needed.

New Lunchroom Supervisor

We have hired a new lunchroom supervisor who will begin on Monday. Her name is Donna Swaim. We have been looking for a replacement ever since Ms. Tori moved to be working in the office full time, and have been waiting until we found the right person. If you see her at school, please welcome her.

Thank you to the following individuals for their recent contributions to our school…

• Thank you to all of our teachers who have been working extra hard to complete assessments, determine report card marks and write comments for report cards over the past three weeks. They spend many, many hours trying to find ways to present as much information as they can about each child within the format we use.
• Lisa Kujath for creating our Altadore_School_Parents instagram account! She ’s single handedly keeping all parents up to date with timely reminders of everything from PD days to field trip updates! Thank you Lisa!
