Oki Hello Altadore Families
Welcome to June!
It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the final month of the school year — it feels like the year has flown by in the blink of an eye! While the summer holidays are just around the corner, we still have plenty of learning and special events to enjoy together before we say farewells.
With the warmer weather upon us, we’d like to thank the School Council for providing fans to help keep our classrooms comfortable. We also kindly remind families to send students to school with hats and water bottles to help them stay cool during recess.
We are excited to share that Altadore School will celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day on Thursday, June 19. Our celebration will include:
- Tipi construction with students and volunteers
- Storytelling in the Owl’s Nest
- Drumming and traditional Indigenous dance demonstrations
- Special guests: The Calgary Stampede Elbow River Princess and Rodeo Queen
It promises to be a memorable and meaningful day for our school community. Take care,
Iikiinayookaa M. Yellow Horn Karlee Zelmer

National Indigenous History Month
June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, an opportunity to learn about the unique cultures, traditions, and experiences of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. It's a time to honor the stories, achievements, and resilience of Indigenous Peoples, who have lived on this land since time immemorial and whose presence continues to impact the evolving Canada.

Bell Time Change (2025-26 School Year)
In response to Alberta Education’s School Transportation Amendment Regulation, CBE is expanding yellow school bus service and adjusting walk zones starting on September 1, 2025. As bell times are closely linked to transportation schedules, these changes will affect many schools, including Altadore School. The new bell times for next year will be 8:42 AM to 3:15 PM, with early dismissal on Fridays ending at 12:45 PM.
Aligning bell times across schools improves transportation efficiency, allowing each bus to run multiple routes. This helps create a reliable system, ensuring students arrive at school safely, on time, and ready to learn. For more information: RTransportation Service and Bell Time Changes for the 2025-26 School Year
Altadore Gear
Altadore School works with Summarized Design to provide Altadore Gear in all sizes for purchase all year long. This is a fun initiative that many of our families enjoy. Please note that this is not a fundraiser, and Altadore School does not benefit financially from the purchase of Altadore gear. You can order online HERE, and your purchase will come to the school in about a week.
Notes of Thanks
Thank you to the following individuals for their recent contributions to our school…
- Thank you to everyone who assisted with immunizations on May 26th.
- Thank you to the many classroom volunteers.
