Dear Altadore Families, It is so hard to believe it is already the month of June!
Last September seems like ages ago, and at the same time it seems like it was just yesterday. We will be on summer holidays in the blink of an eye - something that we both look forward to, but that also strikes terror into our hearts when we think of all the things to do before June 28.
As the weather warms up (we hope!), we plan to have the students eat outside in the Sipistoy’pakaiks in front of the school. This has proven to be very popular with students in the past and they have been asking to do it again this spring. We also want to thank School Council for their work on a “Cool School” project. They are searching for ways to help keep classrooms cooler on the hot days in the spring and fall. As a result they have paid for window film to be placed on all of the windows in Room 6. This is a pilot project and if the cost benefit ratio is worth it, they will look at expanding the project to other classrooms.

Annual General Meeting
The Altadore Elementary School Parents' Association and School Council Annual General Meeting will be held on June 12, 6:30pm at Altadore School. All parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to attend, and babysitting for school aged children will be provided in a nearby classroom.

School Council needs a Vice Chair!
We’re looking for a vice chair! This role can sound big, but it's actually super manageable and one of the best roles to learn about school council! You would attend meetings, support the chair in any odd tasks that may come up throughout the year, and help organize a few teacher appreciation dinners. Altadore Garden
Last week we learned all about seeds and planted some in the class garden beds. The seeds are just beginning to sprout! This week the lessons are focused on water conservation and how to efficiently water our gardens. We'll be going on a bug hunt next week, so be sure to have the kids wear something they can get dirty! Altadore Gear Celebrate Altadore with custom tees starting at $15! Check out the site!
