Oki Hello Ataldore Families

We are well into the final days of the 2024–25 school year, and there is still plenty of time for meaningful learning and assessment. The Grade 6 Math Part A PAT will take place Friday morning and will continue into the week of June 16.

For those observing Eid al-Adha, we wish you a joyful celebration with loved ones. Eid al-Adha is a time for prayer, gathering with family and friends, feasting, and exchanging gifts.

A heartfelt thank you from our Altadore staff to the School Council for the delicious treats. Your kindness made us feel seen and appreciated—hand to heart in gratitude.

Wishing you a wonderful week filled with learning, community, and family. Take care,

Altadore Spirit Week

What an amazing week! Altadore Spirit Week brought so much excitement and positive energy to our entire community. Thank you to everyone who contributed a donation to the Calgary Food Bank—your generosity is appreciated.

Our Anything but a Backpack competition showcased incredible creativity! We saw everything from a Barbie belt, kiddie pool, basketball hoop, rice

cooker to a tent—just to name a few. It was a tough decision for the Spirit Committee, but the choice for our wackiest winner was unanimous.

Congratulations to Isla N., a Grade 1 student in Ms. Howard’s class, who brought her twin brothers, Ollie and Theo, as her “non-backpack!” Isla will serve as Principal for a Half Day on Friday, June 13

Way to go, Isla—and thank you to everyone for making Spirit Week so memorable!

Altadore Talent Show  | June 26

Talent Show June 10, 2025

On the last day of school, we will host a short talent show during our year-end assembly.

Students have been invited to audition for this event during their choral class next week. If your child intends to use items from home (e.g., a magician's kit or an instrument they study, such as a violin or guitar), they must remember to bring it to school on the day of their choral class. The schedule for auditions is as follows:

Tuesday, June 10 - Grades 3 & 4

Thursday, June 12 - Grades 1, 2, 3, 5, & 6

We are asking that students' performances be no longer than 2 minutes, with no exceptions. If you know you will be away on the last day of school, please inform your child that they should not audition.

Unfortunately, due to capacity restrictions, parents will not be invited to attend.

the talent show. Still, you are welcome to ask your child to share their talent at home (which also allows them additional practice).

Garden Committee - Call for Items

The garden committee is seeking items to enhance the learning experience for children during their lessons. We are in need of gently used yoga mats, microscopes, and watering cans (ideally of decent quality and made from materials like silicone or metal). They can be dropped off on the garden table, or reach out to Katie Dodd - 587-225-2235 to coordinate other arrangements. Thank you in advance!!

Owls Nest Garden Update

This week was all about bugs! We went on a bug hunt, watered the garden, and planted the charity bed!

Bell Time Change (2025-26 School Year)

In response to Alberta Education’s School Transportation Amendment Regulation, CBE is expanding yellow school bus service and adjusting walk zones starting on September 1, 2025. As bell times are closely linked to transportation schedules, these changes will affect many schools, including Altadore School. The new bell times for next year will be 8:42 AM to 3:15 PM, with early dismissal on Fridays ending at 12:45 PM

Aligning bell times across schools improves transportation efficiency, allowing each bus to run multiple routes. This helps create a reliable system, ensuring students arrive at school safely, on time, and ready to learn. For more information: Transportation Service and Bell Time Changes for the 2025-26 School Year

Altadore Gear

Altadore School collaborates with Summarized Design to offer Altadore Gear in various sizes for purchase throughout the year. This is a fun initiative that many of our families enjoy. Please note that this is not a fundraiser, and Altadore School does not benefit financially from the purchase of Altadore gear. You can order online here, and your purchase will arrive at the school in approximately one week.

Notes of Thanks

Thank you to the following individuals for their recent contributions to our school…

  • Thank you to our Spirit Week Planning committee. Your hard work brought school spirit and a week of fun to Altadore. TO ALTADORE GO!
