Oki Hello Altadore Families

Happy Spring Break! We hope everyone enjoys a restful and refreshing break. Classes will resume on Monday, March 31

Before we head into the break, we want to acknowledge the wonderful visit we had from Henri Giroux, an Indigenous author who inspired our students and staff as we continue our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. Students were especially delighted to interact with her puppet, Charlie, and many recognized them from the Calgary Public Library's Land Acknowledgement video

This week, we also enjoyed a book fair, fun lunch, and parent-teacher interviews. Thank you to all the families and teachers for taking the time to discuss student learning, celebrate successes, and plan next steps for growth!

We are very happy to report that CUPE Local 40 members and the Calgary Board of Education Board of Trustees have ratified a new collective agreement and that Mr. Jerry, our facilitates operator is back with us here at Altadore once again!

Wishing all our families a safe and enjoyable break. Our next newsletter will come to your inbox on April 6. See you on March 31!

Bikes and Scooters 🚲🛴

With the warmer weather, more students are riding bikes and scooters to school! Please remember to lock up bikes and scooters at the racks to keep them safe. A reminder that scooters are not allowed inside the building. Thank you for helping keep our school safe and organized!

Inclusion and Belonging

At Altadore School, we strive to create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment where every student feels valued. This aligns with CBE’s Administrative Regulation 6031, promoting positive relationships and behaviors.

To support these values, Grade 6 students Ivanka and Lauren created a bulletin board highlighting inclusion, respect, and kindness—key themes in our wellness curriculum on healthy relationships.

Join us in fostering inclusivity by talking to your child about:

✅ Inviting others to play at recess

✅ Practicing kindness in words and actions

✅ Celebrating cultural and individual differences

✅ Helping others and promoting belonging
