Oki, Hello, Altadore Families
Students and staff concur that we are all grateful for time to spend with family and to rest during Fall Break. All the students returned refreshed and ready to finish the calendar year off strong.
We do have a few updates to share:
- We want to extend a warm welcome to a new member of our lunchroom staff, Abigail Ollabar. Abigail brings warmth and kindness to the classroom and recess.
- Nara Duthie has accepted the learning leader role at Altadore School. We are excited for Nara to bring her teaching expertise and knowledge to our leadership team. She will continue in her role as grade one classroom teacher.
- A gentle reminder to please do not drop off or pickup your children in the staff parking lot, on the street where pylons are placed, and the bus zone in front of the school to ensure student safety.
- Altadore School Winter Concert will take place on Wednesday, December 18. A reminder there will be two performances:
○ 5:30 – 6:30 Kindergarten and Grade 1 classes
○ 7:00 – 8:00 Grade 2 and Grade 3 classes - See below for detailed information for School Council Meeting, Sharing Night and Conferences.
We are looking forward to seeing you next week! Warm Regards,
Iikiinayookaa Yellow Horn Karlee Zelmer

Sharing Night | Nov 21
Sharing Night is on Thursday, November 21, giving students a chance to show their parents their classwork and share more about their school day and curriculum.
To reduce crowding, families with surnames A–K are encouraged to attend from 5:00–6:00 p.m., and families with surnames L–Z from 6:00–7:00 p.m. These times are flexible, and visits typically last 20–30 minutes. Kindergarten families will receive a separate schedule from Ms. Wrightson.
Parent-Teacher Conferences | Nov 28 & 29)
As with previous conferences, we will offer in-person conferences on Thursday from 4:00–8:00 PM and online conferences on Friday from 8:00 AM–12:00 PM. Mrs. Wrightson will follow a hybrid format and will also be available for additional conferences during the day on Thursday.
Please note that there is no school for kindergarten students on Thursday and no school for all students on Friday. Conference bookings can be made through your MyCBE account starting on Sunday, November 23 at noon.
Direct Donation Campaign | Nov 30
Two Weeks Left!
We're almost there! Please consider donating to our Direct Donation Campaign HERE so we can raise the last $9,000 needed to ensure our programs continue for the students this school year! We have a great year planned with field trips, gym equipment, fun fit residencies, books, technology, art supplies, residencies and so much more, so please consider donating HERE. Let's work to keep these programs up and running!
We would like to thank the 37% of families who have already donated. Our goal is always participation, so please consider donating, and let's see if we can get this number higher! Any amount makes a difference!

Fun Lunch | December 10
December's Fun Lunch is Panago Pizza on Tuesday, December 10. Please note that grade 1 students will be on a field trip that day, so these students will need to bring a packed lunch on this day. The last day to order is December 5 - be sure to place your order!
Orders can be placed HERE. Please email HERE with any questions or concerns. Volunteer to help with Fun Lunch HERE.
Christmas Tree Display - Call for Volunteer!
We are looking for at least one volunteer to help us pick up and deliver Christmas Trees for our annual Christmas Tree display at the front of the school. If you have a truck, and a bit of time to spare, we would so appreciate your help in bringing some holiday cheer to Altadore School!
We can be flexible with date/time so please reach out to us HERE, if interested.
Winter Gear Donations
Thank you to everyone who generously donated winter gear to Belfast School. We are now starting another winter gear drive for Piitoayis Family School. Donations can be dropped off in the box outside the office. Your support is greatly appreciated!
Altadore Gear- All Year Long
Altadore School works with Summarized Design to provide Altadore Gear for purchase in all sizes all year long. This is a fun initiative that many of our families enjoy. Please note that this is NOT a fundraiser, and Altadore School does not benefit financially from the purchase of Altadore gear.
T-shirts and hoodie colours change periodically and these make great gifts for the holiday season. You can order here.
Notes of Thanks
Thank you to the following individuals for their recent contributions to our school…
- Ms. Brown-Wolfe, Mr. Hercheck & Mr. Mitchelson and everyone who helped organize, and took part in, our Remembrance Day Assembly.
- All the amazing individuals who participated in our Casino fundraiser - the students of Altadore will benefit greatly from your time and energy!
- All the November volunteers who helped distribute Fun Lunch - it wouldn't be possible without the parent volunteers!
- Everyone who generously donated money to our veterans for poppies.
- Those of you who donated winter gear for Belfast School.
