Oki, Hello, Altadore Families,

Thank you so much for joining us for Sharing Night! It was wonderful to see how proud the students were to showcase their work and give you a glimpse into what happens at school each day—especially for those families whose kids usually say "nothing happened" when you ask about their day 🤣. A huge thank you as well to our amazing teachers for their hard work in making this night such a meaningful and memorable experience. With winter in full swing, we want to remind everyone that recess is outside every day unless the temperature drops below -20°C. Please ensure students come prepared with warm winter gear, including hats, mittens, boots, and snow pants, so they can stay cozy and enjoy the snow. Don’t forget to send a pair of gym-appropriate indoor shoes to leave at school—they help keep feet dry and ready for P.E. classes. Looking ahead, we have another exciting week with Conferences on Thursday evening and Friday. Please check below for more details. Stay warm, and thank you for your continued support!

Warm Regards,

  • Ms. Miller’s class will have conferences in person on both days. If you require an online conference please sign up for the in person conference on MyCBE and then email Mr. L (twleung@cbe.ab.ca) or Ms. Tori (vmwhychick@cbe.ab.ca) and they will set this up for you.
  • Mrs. Wrightson will follow a hybrid format and will also be available for additional conferences during the day on Thursday. Please note that there is no school for kindergarten students on Thursday and no school for all students on Friday. Fun Lunch (Dec. 10)

December's Fun Lunch is Panago Pizza on Tuesday, December 10. Please note that grade 1 students will be on a field trip that day, so these students will need to bring a packed lunch on this day. Please join in the fun.

  • 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM Grade two and grade three classes

*A reminder that Grades 4-6 will take part in a Spring Concert on May 7, 2025

Christmas Tree Display - Call for Volunteers!

We are looking for at least one volunteer to help us pick up and deliver Christmas Trees for our annual Christmas Tree display at the front of the school. If you have a truck, and a bit of time to spare, we would so appreciate your help in bringing some holiday cheer to Altadore School! We can be flexible with date/time so please reach out to us, if interested.

Winter Gear Donations

Thank you to everyone who generously donated winter gear to Belfast School. We are now starting another winter gear drive for Piitoayis Family School. Donations can be dropped off in the box outside the office. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Altadore Gear- All Year Long

Altadore School works with Summarized Design to provide Altadore Gear for purchase in all sizes all year long. This is a fun initiative that many of our families enjoy. Please note that this is NOT a fundraiser, and Altadore School does not benefit financially from the purchase of Altadore gear. T-shirts and hoodie colours change periodically and these make great gifts for the holiday season. Order here.

Grade 6 Junior High Transition

We understand it may feel a bit early to start thinking about this, but we know some families have questions, particularly about Mount Royal Junior High (which is currently our designated English junior high school). As they continue to face capacity challenges, enrollment is expected to be determined by lottery again this year. The overflow schools are currently A.E. Cross and Vincent Massey.

We encourage you to visit their website for the most up-to-date information, as well as the CBE's main page on lotteries for additional details. For families interested in French Immersion, our current designated school is Elboya. Currently, they have overflow to Chinook Park and Woodman School. You can find more information about their program.

Additionally, there is typically more information, visits, and presentations for Junior High offered to Altadore Grade 6 students later in the New Year when details are more finalized. Please stay tuned for further updates as information about next year become available.
