Oki, Hello, Altadore Families

Here we are on October 20 already! The school is buzzing with learning activities, the School Development Plan is at the forefront of our minds, and we are planning intentional Remembrance Day services and Winter Concerts.

This is a reminder that Principal Iikiinayookaa will be away from school on October 23 and will return on October 28. We are happy to have retired principal Mr. Jeff Hutton support Altadore School during her absence.

This year, concerts at Altadore School will look a little different! After gathering feedback from parents, teachers, and students, we’ve decided to give our older students more creative freedom by hosting two separate concerts. The Winter Concert on December 18 will feature Grades K-3 (Kindergarten & Grade 1 from 5:30-6:30 PM and Grades 2 & 3 from 7:00-8:00 PM). Grades 4-6 will take the stage in our new Spring Concert on May 7. Mark your calendars—more details will be shared closer to the dates!

Take care,

Altadore Playground is Closed During the School Day

During the school day, we ask parents to come to the offices when picking up students rather than going to the playground to find their child. Also, afternoon kindergarten parents should be reminded to stay near the kindergarten doors while waiting for Ms. Wrightson to arrive. Waiting helps with student safety.

Picture Retakes - October 28 AM

Lifetouch will return to do photo retakes on October 28, 2024. Please ensure your child knows they will be required to retake (or let your child’s teacher know if you think they will forget) as we do not have a list.

Please note: PM kindergarten students requiring retakes are to come with their caregiver at 9 AM to get their retake done.

Altadore Halloween Events

We are excited to celebrate Halloween with our school community. Students are welcome to arrive at school in costumes on Thursday, Oct. 31. A gentle reminder to parents and students that costumes should not include blood, gore, masks, and weapons. The Division 1 students will parade the school to Division 2 classes, where all students can see each other's costumes. Please note that there will be no candy allowed at school on this day.

Kindness Adventure

As you know, we recently hosted an all-school live stream event called NED’s Kindness Adventure. We trust your student was inspired by the show, which taught about choosing kindness, respect, and acceptance. Here are a couple of our favorite follow-up home resources from the Kindness Adventure website. You may want to use these with your child, as they are designed to complement the program.

  • Friendship Cards
  • Friendship Soup Activity

And don’t forget to ask your student what they learned in the show about including others, caring is cool, and that difference can be good.

Altadore Casino Fundraiser (Nov 4&5)

Hello Altadore Family/Friends! The casino fundraiser is coming up on Nov 4 & Nov 5. We are still in need of TWO more amazing volunteers on Tuesday, Nov 5 (one Cashier & one Chip Runner from 7 p.m. to 3:45 a.m.). Please consider signing up HERE.

The Casino is one of the major fundraisers for the school, and we can use the money over two years to help enhance the curriculum (field trips, classroom supplies, etc etc). Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Direct Donation Campaign

Let's keep our children’s school programs up and running! Donate HERE!

Our direct donation campaign pays for all sorts of amazing things at Altadore from school buses for your child’s class field trips, extra art supplies in the classroom, fun fit residencies, library books, and so so so much more!

We are currently sitting at only half of our goal for the year, so if you are planning to donate, please consider doing it sooner rather than later, maybe even TODAY by simply clicking HERE!

Learn more about the campaign like:

  • Where does my money go?
  • How do I get a tax receipt?
  • Can I do company matching?

Want to volunteer? Sign up HERE!

(you must have a valid police check registered with CBE to volunteer)

Volunteer Security Clearance

All volunteers need a CBE police security clearance (sports/work clearances don’t apply). Although there is an online process to do this yourself, Ms. Tori kindly requests you come and see her in the office to get this done as she can expedite the process and make sure no errors are made.
