Oki, Hello, Altadore Families
As our Grade 6 students gear up for their outdoor camp adventure next week, the building is filled with a buzz of "nervcitement"—a mix of excitement and a bit of nerves. Based on past experience, we know that once they start having fun, the nervousness will fade, and they’ll be making wonderful memories while learning new things in this exciting environment.
Meanwhile, the rest of the school is diving into learning, reviewing, and exploring what engagement looks like. Using our engagement continuum, students are reflecting on where they are and how they can take steps to become more involved in their learning. Classrooms are also taking moments to express gratitude, and we encourage you to do the same.
Please note that this update covers the next two weeks. There will not be a weekly update next week due to the Thanksgiving long weekend. 🙂

School Council Meeting (Oct 9, 6:30pm)
We would like to invite all parents and caregivers of Altadore Students to our upcoming School Council Meeting on Wednesday October 9, at 6:30pm!
We will meet in person at the school, and for anyone who can't make it in person, we want to make everything more accessible and hopefully increase involvement, so you can also expect a MS Teams link to be sent out prior to the meeting. We will also have babysitting for school aged children in a nearby classroom where the kids can play, have fun!
We will be reviewing results from our Parent Survey last year, as well as strategies to improve safety at the 45 Ave Crosswalk. Don’t forget to review the meeting minutes from last month HERE.
We hope to see you there!
Altadore Casino Fundraiser (Nov 4&5)
Calling all night owls!!!
We are looking for 4 amazing volunteers who would like to help us out on Tuesday November 5, from 7pm - 3:45am for our Casino Fundraiser! We know it's a tough shift, and we would never ask unless it was highly impactful to the success of the programs at our school, but we desperately need 1 cashier, 1 chip runner, and 2 countroom staff! Absolutely no experience necessary, the staff on site will train you and help out through the shift! Come meet some other Altadore parents during your shift, have some fun trying something different, and sign up HERE!
This event brings in about one third of our total budget for the year, so it’s an important one! Please consider volunteering!

Volunteer Security Clearance
All volunteers need a CBE police security clearance (sports/work clearances don’t apply). Although there is an online process to do this yourself, Ms. Tori kindly
requests you come and see her in the office to get this done as she can expedite
the process and make sure no errors are made.

Fun Lunch (Oct 22)
Our first Fun Lunch is on Tuesday, October 22 with the order deadline of Thursday, October 17. Families can start setting up their orders through the Healthy Hunger website HERE. You will have to create a profile and select your child's teacher by selecting Altadore School. Please note that there are two
accounts for Fun lunch for Altadore School. AltadoreLunch1 is grades 1-3 (including Seeds of Spice) and AltadoreLunch2 is grades 4-6. You can email the fun lunch team HERE with any questions or concerns!
Fun Lunch will be on Tuesdays this year, and you can volunteer for our first fun lunch by signing up HERE! (you must have a valid police check registered with CBE to volunteer)
