Dear Altadore Families,
Thank you so much to everyone who attended the Hoot! It looked to us like everyone had a lot of fun. For those of you who participated in the online auction or made a donation - it makes a real difference! What an amazing way to raise funds for the school. The funds raised allow us to provide many fun and amazing “extras” for our students.
If you were unable to attend, and would like to buy your child’s art, please send $15 cash to school and we will be happy to send it home.
Wednesday will be the last day of school for students before the first ever Fall Break. Thursday is Maatoomsii’Pookaiks|Children First, an Indigenous professional learning day for all CBE staff. We will all return to school on Wednesday, November 16. This will be followed by Sharing Night on Thursday and Conferences the following week. More information will be in the update on November 19. In between all that our Grade 6 students will be at Outdoor School for four days. Busy times as always at Altadore!
Online booking for conferences will start on Sunday November 28 at noon. More information will be in the Update that morning.
Please note that because of the Fall Break, there will not be another newsletter until November 19.
Sincerely,
| Kelly Christopher Principal kdchristophe@cbe.ab.ca |

2023-24 Direct Donation Campaign
Hey, you! Yes, you! Want to be a hero and make a real difference? Altadore School's Direct Donation Campaign is waiting for your generosity HERE. With your help, the sky's the limit for Altadore students, who'll get to explore and learn far beyond what standard CBE funding has to offer, thanks to your support!
We often dip into these funds for:
- Field Trips - subsidizing admissions or helping pay for school buses
- FunFit residencies like alien in-line skating, or the super fun fitset ninja that the students absolutely loved back in October
- Updating technology at the school such ipads and chromebooks
- Residencies that are often unique to each grade, such as having authors come in to work with students on their creative writing
- School unity projects, like purchasing fun lunches for students whose families require some additional assistance
- Classroom support and supplies, such as special art supplies like oil pastels, or math accessories like counting blocks
- Gym and Music equipment for all of the kids to enjoy!
Our goal for this campaign is participation. We hope that each family can contribute in whatever capacity they are able, with a hope of $200 per student for those who are able. Any contribution makes an impact!
A friendly reminder that we provide tax receipts! Donate HERE!
Sharing Night
Sharing Night will be held on Thursday, November 16. Sharing Night is an opportunity for students to bring their parents into the school to show them some of the daily work they do in class. This allows families to learn more about what your child does at school, see their work, and to learn more about curricular expectations.
In order to reduce crowding, we are asking families with surnames from A-K to come sometime between 5:00 - 6:00 pm, and families with surnames from L-Z to come from 6:00- 7:00 pm. These are suggested times only- we understand that many of you will be working around other commitments. It should take you about 20- 30 minutes in your child’s class. Kindergarten teachers will be letting their families know about a slightly different schedule.
Remembrance Day
We will be having a Remembrance Day assembly on Wednesday, November 8 at 10:40. All students will be given a poppy. We do encourage you to send in a small donation for the poppy that will go to charity. Please avoid dropping off/picking up your child during the assembly.
Run Club
This club is now over until the Spring. We look forward to running with you then.
Altadore Gear - All Year Long
Altadore school works with Summarized Design to provide Altadore Gear for purchase in all sizes all year long. This is a fun initiative that many of our families enjoy. Please note that this is not a fundraiser, and Altadore School does not benefit financially from the purchase of Altadore gear.
T-Shirt and hoodie colours are changed periodically, and right now there are several different versions of multicoloured logos! You can order online HERE and your purchase will come to the school in about a week. If you would like to see the different colour options or to have your child try on t-shirts to check for size, there are samples at the school office.
Fun Lunch
Panago is coming Wednesday, December 6, 2023! Place your order by Friday December 1, 2023.
Please ensure you have selected the correct teacher for your child! Set up your orders through the Healthy Hunger website HERE. You will have to create a profile and select their teacher by selecting Altadore School. Please note that there are two accounts for Fun lunch for Altadore School. AltadoreLunch1 is grades 1-3 (and Seeds of Spice K students) and AltadoreLunch2 is grades 4-6. You can email altadorefunlunch@gmail.com with any questions or concerns!
Want to volunteer for December? Sign up HERE PLEASE NOTE: a valid police check is required to be filed with the front office. Check in with the office, or email altadorefunlunch@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.
