Oki Hello Altadore Families
I am excited to begin a new school year with students, staff, and families. I hope you all have had a wonderful, fun, and restful summer. I feel the start of a new school year is the beginning of many possibilities for learning and friendship. The first day of classes for students will be Thursday, August 29, 2024. The upcoming year will be filled with learning, laughter, and community.
Assistant Principal Karlee Zelmer and I have been diligently preparing to ensure a smooth transition for the first day of school. We've spent several days familiarizing ourselves with the important information. I extend a huge thank you to Ms. Zelmer for her invaluable assistance. I am also delighted to introduce Learning Leaders Ms. Beth Mackenzie and Ms. Caroline Swan, who will be joining our Leadership Team.
Currently, we are repairing the front entrance and anticipate completing the repair by the first day of school. Please be aware of the construction signage if you need to come into the school before classes begin.
The buzz in the school is of excitement to meet returning students and students new to our school. Please take time to read some valuable information about back-to-school.
See you all on Thursday, August 29, 2024.

Staying Informed
Teachers will send out information about what is happening in the class at least once a week. The School Council and the admin team collaborate on a school-wide Weekly Update that goes out to all families each Sunday. Our school website is updated with all the information in the Weekly Update each week. Please ensure you are registered to receive those messages here. If you have problems, email or call Miss Tori in the office.

Fees
We provide school supplies for our students, with parents paying for these supplies through the annual Student Supply Fee on MyCBE. There is also a lunch supervision fee for students who stay for lunch (also on MyCBE). More information about these feeds will be provided to families later in the fall. Fees do not need to be paid before the start of the school year. Subsides are available for families experiencing financial issues.
What to Bring
Students should bring a water bottle, a small pocket snack and a packed lunch if they stay over the noon hour. We do not require indoor shoes to be sent until the snowy winter months. We do require students to wear shoes that are appropriate for gym class and outdoor play (this means sneakers or runners rather than sandals, flip flops or crocs).
Staffing
Due to changes in enrolment over the summer, we continue to work on our staffing. We will update you once school starts.
Classroom Assignments
Classroom teachers will be emailing families at 9 AM on Wednesday, August 28 to welcome them to their class. They will provide you with information about the first day (where to meet, what to bring, etc). If you have not received an email by 12:00 PM, you are welcome to contact the school office, and we will connect you with your child’s teacher.
*Teachers have spent many hours and worked extremely hard to make balanced classes for next year and to find the best placement for each child. They know the students very well and take many, many factors into consideration when creating classes. Placement requests for friends and particular teachers will not be considered, unless parents have information we do not have and only under the most extreme circumstances.
